HISI2010 Conference- Dublin, Ireland

The 15th Annual HISI (Healthcare Informatics Society of Ireland) Conference and Scientific Symposium, Ireland’s premier healthcare informatics event, will take place on 17-18 November, 2010 in the Stillorgan Park Hotel, Stillorgan, Co. This year’s HISI Conference and Scientific Symposium will reflect current developments in healthcare computing, associated technologies and communications infrastructures within Ireland and in the wider international context.

The longevity and tradition of this conference event is recognised in its provision of significant contributions to the development and understanding of information and its associated technologies in the delivery of healthcare. It provides the focal point for those interested in healthcare informatics in Ireland to network with their peers, within the country and internationally, and to learn about the latest developments.

This year’s plenary session, organised in conjunction with the Irish Health Services Management Institute, maintains the event’s tradition of having, as a keynote speaker, the winner of the US CEO of the year award for information technology. This year’s speaker is Mr Peter S. Fine, President and CEO Banner Health, Arizona and USA 2010 CEO HIMSS IT Achievement Award Winner. Peter S. Fine has been President and CEO of Phoenix-based Banner Health since November 2000. Banner Health is one of the largest secular, non-profit healthcare organizations in the USA, employing more than 35,000 people.

Other featured speakers include:

The seminars and workshops on the first day of the conference provide contributions from internationally recognised experts in electronic health records, data protection, clinical decision support, nursing informatics, healthcare informatics standards, technology and systems innovation. A new practical workshop format has also been introduced, in which participants will have a proactive involvement, together with a wide range of expert workshops, seminars, peer reviewed presentations and the commercial exhibition.
