mHealth Summit Europe – 2014 Call for Papers

The mHealth Summit Europe 2014 will take place on 6 – 8 May 2014 in Berlin, Germany. The organisers, HIMSS Europe, and the mHealth Summit Europe Programme Advisory Committee has now opened the Call for Papers – this closes on February 14, 2014. The 2014 mHealth Summit seeks transformational and innovative submissions that deliver pragmatic evidence that mHealth is moving from theory to adoption and from pilot to scale. They are looking for cutting-edge content, usage cases and discussion of the challenges, implications, impact and opportunities.

Among key elements of the call and the types of submissions are that:

  • All submissions must be received electronically no later than 12 Noon CET on Friday, February 14, 2014.
  • The submission needs to be as detailed as possible to aid in the review process.
  • Include enough details to support the title, description, and the learning objectives
  • The call especially seeks proposals on the use of mobile technology to solve a particular healthcare challenge (e.g., readmissions, medication reconciliation) and data that supports its impact (quantitative preferred)
  • Submissions cannot include any hint of sales, marketing or commercial bias, and should have no more than one presenter.

2014 HIMSS Europe eHealth Leadership Award – Nominations Close 03 February

HIMSS Europe has launched the nomination process for the HIMSS Europe eHealth Leadership Award, which recognises an individual who, in the judgment of the HIMSS Europe Governing Council, has demonstrated significant leadership in promoting the use of information technology in healthcare in Europe. To be eligible for the HIMSS Europe eHealth Leadership Award, the candidate must:

  • be a resident of Europe
  • be professionally active in Europe.

The HIMSS Europe eHealth Leadership Award is given in recognition of European level leadership in the field of eHealth. The award may be made for leadership in eHealth deployment, innovation, policy development, advocacy or training at a European level towards the transformation of healthcare. It may be made to an exceptional contribution, for a sustained engagement, or for a lifetime of exceptional leadership, which has had an impact across Europe.

eHealth Week 2013: New Technologies, New Ideas, New Opportunities

eHealth Week 2013 (May 13 – 15) will be held at the Convention Centre Dublin, and bring together global decision makers from European public and private healthcare, to join High Level European Ministers and EU Commissioners and over 2,500 international delegates and 100 exhibitors. eHealth Week is co-organised by the European Commission, the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union and HIMSS Europe.

Working with the European Commission, the Irish Department of Health, the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the ECH Alliance, the theme of this year’s event will focus on delivering innovation and well-being. eHealth Week will show the importance of cooperation, communication and Connected Health best-practice.

The Irish Department of Health will host several Presidency events attended by EU Commissioners and officials, Ministers of Health and government officials from Member States, Accession, Candidate and EFTA countries. Department of Health tracks, open to all eHealth Week attendees, will feature discussion on the high economic and societal value of eHealth, reforming health systems, business modelling in the “ecosystem”, empowering patients, legal issues and education and skills to support eHealth deployment and implementation. HIMSS13 is Almost Here – New Orleans, March 03-07

The 2013 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition will be held on March 3-7, 2013, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans (www.himssconference.org). More than 36,000 healthcare industry professionals are expected to attend to discuss health information technology issues and review innovative solutions designed to transform healthcare.

IMIA is pleased to support this annual event, as it has done for many years, and encourages its members and colleagues to participate. Conference education sessions include pre-conference symposia on ICD-10, clinical and business intelligence, health information exchanges, clinical engineering, innovation, meaningful use, nursing informatics, physicians’ IT, and RFID and RTLS in healthcare. Nominations Open for 2013 HIMSS Europe Award for eHealth Leadership

HIMSS Europe (https://www.himss.eu/) has launched the nomination process for the 2013 HIMSS Europe Award for eHealth Leadership. This award recognises an individual who, in the judgment of the HIMSS Europe Governing Council, has demonstrated significant leadership in promoting the use of information technology in healthcare in Europe (as defined in accordance with the current definition of European by the World Health Organisation).

To be eligible for the HIMSS Europe Award for eHealth Leadership, candidates must:

  • be a resident of Europe
  • be professionally active in Europe.

In addition, the specific criteria are:

  • the HIMSS Europe Award for eHealth Leadership is given in recognition of European level leadership in the field of eHealth.
  • the award may be made for leadership in eHealth deployment, innovation, policy development, advocacy or training at a European level towards the transformation of healthcare.
  • it may be made to an exceptional contribution, for a sustained engagement, or for a lifetime of exceptional leadership, which has had an impact across Europe.

eHealth Week 2013 will bring together two main events: the High Level eHealth Conference co-organised by the European Commission and the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and WoHIT (World of Health IT Conference & Exhibition) organised by HIMSS Europe. The event not only brings industry partners and providers from across Europe, but also important government and regional decision makers.
