HELINA 2011 conference will be in Nigeria

The next HELINA (Health Informatics in Africa) conference will be held in Nigeria in 2011. We will announce further details as they become available.

Ghislain Kouematchoua, HELINA’s representative to the IMIA Board, announced that the HELINA General Assembly, meeting in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire at the HELINA 2009 conference (http://www.sibim.net/helina/en/index.html), had unanimously selected Nigeria to be the host.

HELINA is IMIA’s African region and HELINA 2009 was the sixth conference in the series. Currently Ethiopia, Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire), Malawi, Mali, Nigeria and South Africa are members of IMIA, and we expect more national health informatics societies to be formed soon and join IMIA. IMIA has corresponding members in Algeria, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Kenya, Madagascar, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
