IMIA Board Meeting, Budapest

The IMIA Board met in Budapest on 26 April, 2014 in conjunction with the EFMI Special Topic Conference 2014 (www.stc2014.org). In addition, members of the IMIA Board participated in  a joint meeting with the EFMI Board on 25 April, and were pleased to be able to join the EFMI Council for their dinner in the evening of 25 April.

The next IMIA Board meeting will be on 30 October, 2014 and the next IMIA General Assembly meeting will be on 31 October 2014. The meetings will be held in New Delhi, India in conjunction with the APAMI2014 conference (www.apami2014.com)

Virtual Physiological Human Conference 2014 – Abstract Submission Deadline May 15

This biannual conference series grew out of the FP7 Virtual Physiological Human Network of Excellence. It has become one of the major instruments for maintaining the coherence and momentum of the highly multidisciplinary VPH community. The members of the VPH community subscribe to the view that a substantially improved healthcare can only be achieved through converged efforts of the life sciences, the mathematical sciences and engineering.

EFMI STC2014 – Budapest, Hungary; 26-29 April

date_sThe European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) Special Topic Conference (STC) 2014 will take place on 26-29 April, 2014 at the Hotel Benczúr. Information on the event is available through the website at http://stc2014.org

The subject of the EFMI STC 2014 will be Cross-border challenges in informatics with a focus on disease surveillance and utilising big-data. The Patron is Dr. Szócska Miklós, minister of state responsible for health, and the LOC is lead by Dr György Surján and his colleagues from the Biomedical Section of the John von Neumann Computer Society (NJSZT), IMIA and EFMI’s Member Society in Hungary. The SPC chairs are Lacrimioara Stoicu-Tivadar (Romania) and Simon de Lusignan (UK).

The regular registration rate is available until 28 March, after which the on-site rate applies. Information on keynotes speakers and other sessions, including social options, is all available at http://stc2014.org

UPDATE: Medicine 2.0’14 Conferences: Submission Deadline 19 March

The deadline is rapidly approaching for submission of abstracts to the Medicine 2.0’14 events. There will be two events in 2014, but the submission deadline for both is March 19th, 2014, midnight EST.

mHealth Summit Europe – 2014 Call for Papers

The mHealth Summit Europe 2014 will take place on 6 – 8 May 2014 in Berlin, Germany. The organisers, HIMSS Europe, and the mHealth Summit Europe Programme Advisory Committee has now opened the Call for Papers – this closes on February 14, 2014. For complete details on the submission requirements, visit www.mhealthsummit.org/eu

The 2014 mHealth Summit seeks transformational and innovative submissions that deliver pragmatic evidence that mHealth is moving from theory to adoption and from pilot to scale. They are looking for cutting-edge content, usage cases and discussion of the challenges, implications, impact and opportunities.

Among key elements of the call and the types of submissions are that:

  • All submissions must be received electronically no later than 12 Noon CET on Friday, February 14, 2014.
  • The submission needs to be as detailed as possible to aid in the review process.
  • Include enough details to support the title, description, and the learning objectives
  • The call especially seeks proposals on the use of mobile technology to solve a particular healthcare challenge (e.g., readmissions, medication reconciliation) and data that supports its impact (quantitative preferred)
  • Submissions cannot include any hint of sales, marketing or commercial bias, and should have no more than one presenter.

2014 HIMSS Europe eHealth Leadership Award – Nominations Close 03 February

HIMSS Europe has launched the nomination process for the HIMSS Europe eHealth Leadership Award, which recognises an individual who, in the judgment of the HIMSS Europe Governing Council, has demonstrated significant leadership in promoting the use of information technology in healthcare in Europe. To be eligible for the HIMSS Europe eHealth Leadership Award, the candidate must:

  • be a resident of Europe
  • be professionally active in Europe.

The HIMSS Europe eHealth Leadership Award is given in recognition of European level leadership in the field of eHealth. The award may be made for leadership in eHealth deployment, innovation, policy development, advocacy or training at a European level towards the transformation of healthcare. It may be made to an exceptional contribution, for a sustained engagement, or for a lifetime of exceptional leadership, which has had an impact across Europe.

The submission deadline for the EFMI STC 2014 has been extended – the deadline for all submissions (full papers, posters and workshops) is now 06 January, 2014. See http://www.stc2014.org for information.

Information is continually being updated on the website as it becomes available, including details of the conference venue, accommodation, and other relevant dates in respect of the scientific submissions. The deadline for early bird registration will be 21 February.
