MIE2015 (Madrid, Spain) – Call for Submissions – Extended Deadlines

efmi-smThe European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) and the Spanish Society of Health Informatics (SEIS), Spain invite you to submit your contributions to the 26th Medical Informatics Europe Conference, MIE2015, which will be held from 27 to 29 May 2015 in Madrid, Spain. The theme of MIE2015 is “Digital healthcare empowering Europeans”.

UPDATE: – extended deadlines:
Deadline for Papers and Posters (indexed)  is extended to November 17th, 2014 [now closed]
Deadline for Workshops, Panels, Special events (nonindexed) proposals is December 22nd.

NI2016, 13th International Congress in Nursing Informatics Geneva; June 25-29, 2016

NI2016 will be the 13th International Congress in Nursing Informatics, and held in Geneva, Switzerland on June 25 to 29, 2016. See http://ni2016.org for all updates and information.

NI2016 will:

GMDS 2015 Conference (60th Anniversary) – Krefeld, Germany 06-09 September, 2015

Our colleagues in the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Informatik, Biometrie und Epidemiologie (GMDS) e.V. – are pleased to announce that their GMDS2015 conference will be held at the Hochschule Niederrhein in Krefeld (near Dusseldorf), Germany on 06-09 September, 2015. Further information will be provided, as it becomes available, at www.gmds2015.de (in German).

GMDS2015 will represent the 60th Annual Meeting of the GMDS eV.

New EFMI Board and Website

The new Board of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI – www.efmi.org) has been announced, with new officers taking up their positions effective of the closing of MIE2014.

The new EFMI Executive Board from 03 September,2014 is:

Past President – Patrick Weber (Switzerland) – also EFMI representative to the IMIA Board

The position of Executive Officer and Treasurer will have transition periods until the next MIE event (MIE2015) and the closing of the current financial year, respectively.

The EFMI website is also being updated, and has new design and layout.

GMDS-IMIA HIS WG Workshop on “Research Databases” (Göttingen, Germany – 11 September 2014)

A satellite workshop on the topic of Research Databases will be held following the annual meeting of the German Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) on Thursday, 11 September 2014. The workshop is organised by the GMDS “EHR data reuse for clinical research” working group in cooperation with the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) Health Information Systems working group and the “Infrastructure for Translational Research” working group of the Department of Medical Informatics at the Göttingen University Medical Center. The workshop will also include the 2nd European i2b2 Academic User Group Meeting in conjunction with a workshop of the i2b2 enhancing IDRT project sponsored by the TMF.

All interested researchers are invited to to participate in this international workshop, directly following the annual German Medical Informatics Conference held at the Göttingen University from September 8-10, 2014. Please send a registration mail by 31 August to Prof. Dr. H.U. Prokosch – ulli.prokosch[at]uk-erlangen.de – if you want to attend this free workshop.

The program will include presentations on projects using i2b2 or tranSMART and SHRINE as foundations for research projects (such as EHR4CR, Cloud4Health, IDRT), as well as presentations on projects employing other research database software, to support collaborative hospital-wide and even trans-institutional research projects.

NI Congresses – Onwards from Taipei in 2014 to Geneva 2016

NI2014, the 12th International Congress on Nursing Informatics (www.ni2014.org) held in Taipei, Taiwan is now over. So, the international nursing informatics community begins to turn its mind to the next NI Congress, NI2016, to be held in Geneva, Switzerland.

The 13th International Congress on Nursing Informatics, held under the auspices of IMIA-NI, and hosted by the Swiss Nursing Association, among other orgnisations, will be held in Geneva, Switzerland on 25-29 June, 2016. The website is already live at http://www.ni2016.org and will be further developed over the next two years. There will be very early bird registration rates (fordelegates, accompanying persons, etc) from 01 July 2014 to 30 June 2015, followed by increasing rates following as the event nears – see http://ni2016.org/registration/

The Call for Papers will open on 30 March, 2015, with a submission deadline of 30 September, 2015. See http://ni2016.org/submission/ The theme of the conference will be eHealth for all. Every level collaboration – From project to realization. A number of innovations will be developed and announced over the coming months.

„Big Data und Forschungsinfrastruktur – Perspektiven für die Medizin“

Das Schlagwort „Big Data“ wird Forschung und Förderung auf viele Jahre bestimmen. In Kombination mit den Anforderungen an Register, Klinische Studien und Grundlagenforschung einerseits und individualisierter Medizin andererseits stehen alle Sparten der Fachgesellschaft vor neuen Herausforderungen. Diese sollen im Rahmen der 59. Jahrestagung der GMDS e.V. in Göttingen umfassend diskutiert werden. Dabei können alle aktuellen Fragen der Fächer in diesem Zusammenhang analysiert und erörtert werden.

Für diesen breiten Diskurs wird auch der Austausch mit der Industrie und den Verbänden gesucht. Mit der TMF e.V. wird eine Habilitandenweiterbildung zum Thema aus Sicht der Verbundforschung angeboten.

Die 4. GMDS-Jahrestagung in Göttingen – nach 1956, 1977 und 1986 – wird darüber hinaus im sozialen Umfeld viele Gelegenheiten zum fachlichen Austausch bieten.

GMDS-IMIA HIS WG Workshop (Göttingen, Germany) – Call for Papers Closes 15 June

Our collegaue Prof. Stéphane Meystre, chair of the IMIA Working Group on Health Information Systems, announces the Call for Papers for a workshop to be held in Göttingen, Germany on 11 September 2014, in conjunction with the annual GMDS conference.

A satellite workshop on the topic of Research Databases will be held following the annual meeting of the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) on Thursday, 11 September 2014. The workshop is organised by the GMDS “EHR data reuse for clinical research” working group in cooperation with the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) Health Information Systems Working Group and the “Infrastructure for Translational Research” working group of the Department of Medical Informatics at the Göttingen University Medical Center. Research groups working in the aforementioned areas and interested in presenting their work at this workshop are invited to submit a one page abstract by June 15th by e-mail to ulli.prokosch[at]uk-erlangen.de. The organization team will select the most interesting manuscripts for presentation from submitted national and international abstract submissions. We invite all interested researchers to participate in this international workshop, directly following the annual German Medical Informatics Conference held at the Göttingen University from September 8th to 10th 2014.
