COACH (http://www.coachorg.com), IMIA’s Member Society in Canada, together with Canada Health Infoway and CIHI-ICIS, will be hosting the forthcoming e-Health 2015 Conference, to be held from 31 May to 03 June, 2015 at the at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto ON, Canada. e-Health 2015 is Canada’s only national e-health conference and tradeshow, and provides education and networking opportunities for the telehealth and informatics communities.

Global Telehealth 2015 Conference – Call for Papers Extended to Monday 15 December

GT2015 Call for Papers: Deadline Extension to Monday, December 15, 2014

COACH is pleased to announce the Call for Papers for GT2015 (www.GT2015.org), the 4th such conference, open to all academic, healthcare, health informatics and telehealth professionals from Canada and around the world. The organisers encourage your research, study and leading papers to be submitted for acceptance and presentation at this international conference, to be held on May 29-30, 2015 in Toronto.

On behalf of Conference Co-Chairs Jennifer Zelmer and Kendall Ho, we would welcome you to Canada and to this special conference with the theme Serving the Underserved: Integrating Technology and Information for Better Healthcare. Bring your study and research findings, present and network with your Canadian and international colleagues, get published and Medline indexed in the IOS Press series Studies in Health Technology and Informatics and be a part of the innovation, evolution and development of telehealth, mobile health and virtual health, all for the betterment of our patient populations in every community and region.

We welcome your papers, your attendance and interest – and plan to stay for the eHealth 2015 conference (www.ehealthconference.com) starting the day after GT2015 (31 May – 03 June) , and also in Toronto.

Papers are invited under three guided themes: cultural and socio-economic factors; latest, cutting-edge technology; and extending access. The Applied Program track for GT2015 is also now open. The applied program track will feature a number of concurrent sessions on:

1. Telehealth in the Home, including technologies and services such as teleconsultation, telecollaboration, telehomecare and remote patient monitoring that enable and empower patients to work with healthcare professionals to manage their disease from their homes or communities.
2. eMental Health, and how this is being provided in new and different ways with digital technologies to augment service quantity and quality, enhance access, address diversity while reducing disparity, and improve outcomes.
3. National Programs, featuring profiles of small, medium and large countries and agencies and their approaches to governance and policy given different geographic, demographic and related challenges and issues.
4. Planning, Implementation & Management, including how care delivery services are being conceived, designed and delivered, as well as approaches to funding, measurement, monitoring and benefits evaluation.

The deadline for submissions to the Applied Program is January 16, 2015.  Early submissions are appreciated as there are limited presentation opportunities.  Submissions will be reviewed and selections made by the CTF Education Committee, which is responsible for the organization of the applied program committee component of GT2015. Those submitters whose presentations have been selected being notified by February 16th.

MIE2015 (Madrid, Spain) – Call for Submissions – Extended Deadlines

efmi-smThe European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) and the Spanish Society of Health Informatics (SEIS), Spain invite you to submit your contributions to the 26th Medical Informatics Europe Conference, MIE2015, which will be held from 27 to 29 May 2015 in Madrid, Spain. The theme of MIE2015 is “Digital healthcare empowering Europeans”.

87th Annual AHIMA Conference and Exhibit – Submission Deadline Now December 15, 2014

AHIMA (www.ahima.org) cordially invites you to submit your contribution to the 2015 American Health Information Management (AHIMA) Annual Convention; the event will be held on September 26-30, 2015 in New Orleans, USA. The Call for Participation is intended to highlight the diverse interests and areas that broadly constitute the fields of Health Information Management and Health Informatics. The AHIMA Annual Convention offers health information management and health informatics practitioners, educators, students, and researchers the opportunity to share their expertise and insights and to disseminate their research, findings and recommendations. For 2015, AHIMA seeks submissions describing health information management and health informatics research and analytical approaches as well as the day to day practice and application of health information management and health informatics. The conference provides a venue for forward looking, thought-provoking, and groundbreaking discussions. The educational sessions at AHIMA 2015 are designed to offer training, information, and updates on issues vital to health information management and health informatics in the context of an ever changing and often challenging environment.

AHIMA will organize accepted submissions into selected tracks and themes. Individual submissions that are not selected for presentations or panels may be invited to participate in the Poster or other related Networking of CEU events. The sessions will help practitioners identify and embrace best practices, leverage lessons learned, and adopt state-of-the-art solutions; allow educators and students to stay up to date on current advancements; and help regulators and policymakers make sound decisions about health information management and health informatics. Some sessions will emphasize conceptual and theoretical advances relating to the structure, collection, processing, management, maintenance and use of health data. These sessions will present analysis, innovation, and research on the fundamental underpinnings of health information management and health informatics.

Please submit a formal proposal to be considered as a speaker in the pre-convention tutorials, convention educational sessions (presentations and panels) or to have a graphic presentation featured in the Poster Showcase.

HELINA Conference – Extended Call for Participation Closes 16 November

helinaThe organisers of the HELINA2014 conference announced a postponement of the event, due to circumstances beyond their control. See http://conf.helina-online.org/index.php/2014/oct2014/announcement/view/17 for information.

They write: “Due to the outbreak of Ebola in the West Africa region, and as part of measures to prevent the outbreak of Ebola in Ghana, the Government of Ghana on Thursday August 14, 2014 placed a three month ban on all international conferences and gatherings in the Country. In view of this uncontrollable circumstance HELINA and GHIA Council announce the postponement of this year conference, initially scheduled from 11-15 October 2014, to 7-11 March 2015.

The organizers of HELINA 2014 are pleased to extend the invitation for original submissions that address the use of informatics or computer sciences for universal health coverage in Africa in the following categories:

  • Full research papers (completed research with mature results) with 5 to 8 pages
  • Work in progress papers with 5 to 8 pages
  • Experience presentations or “case studies” (reports of health informatics or e-Health implementations and lessons learned) (1 page abstract)

Conference theme: Informatics for Universal Health Coverage in Africa: From Point of Care Systems to National Strategies

Submissions can be prepared either in English or French and must not have been proposed to other symposia or journals. An online submission system and a submission template available on the conference web site http://conf.helina-online.org/index.php/2014/index/ must be used.  The template contains more detailed instructions following the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals http://www.icmje.org/manuscript_1prepare.html. In case of difficulties while using the submission platform, please contact the conference technical team directly at technical@helina-online.org.

Submissions will undergo a double-blind peer reviewing process. Accepted full research papers will be published in the journal of Health Informatics in Africa (http://www.jhia-online.org) and accepted work in progress papers will be published in an electronic conference proceedings on the website of HELINA with an ISBN. At least one author must register to attend the conference.

The submission deadline for this extended call for participation is 16 November 2014.

The 15th World Congress on Health and Biomedical Informatics will be held in São Paulo city, Brazil, from 19 to 23 August, 2015. It will be the first time that Latin America will host this important and prestigious international medical informatics conference. MEDINFO is the main conference of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and its 15th edition will be organized by the Brazilian Health Informatics Association (SBIS).

Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairs Beatriz de Faria Leão and Claudio Giulliano Alves da Costa, from Brazil, invite you to attend and look forward to welcoming everyone. GMDS 2015 Conference (60th Anniversary) – Krefeld, Germany 06-09 September, 2015

IMIA General Assembly 2014; APAMI2014 Conference

The IMIA General Assembly (GA) meeting for 2014 will be held on 31 October, in conjunction with the APAMI2014 conference (www.apami2014.com), with the IMIA Board meeting on 30 October (IMIA Board and GA meetings are by invitation only; invitations have been sent to all GA and Board members). This will be the first IMIA GA to be held in India.

Our colleagues in APAMI, and IAMI (the Indian Association for Medical Informatics – www.iami.org.in), who are hosts and local organisers of the event, are pleased to invite you to participate in the APAMI2014 conference.
