With the primary theme of Investing in e-health: People, knowledge and technology for a healthy future, the conference will focus on investing in e-health, improving the climate for investment and innovation in e-health, strategic opportunities and “where to for Australia?” Keynote speakers will include Dave de Bronkart (ePatientDave) and Dr Danny Sands, Regina Holliday and Dr Bertalan (Berci) Mesko. Danny Sands recently gave a well-received closing keynote at the NI2014 conference in Taipei.

The National University of Singapore’s Centre for Health Informatics (CHI) is organizing the 2nd International Conference on Big Data and Analytics in Healthcare, to be held in Singapore from 22-24 July 2014, and further information is available at http://www.bdah.org
The 2nd International Conference on Big Data and Analytics in Healthcare provides a leading forum for researchers, healthcare administrators, care-providers, and policy makers to disseminate and share cutting-edge research and practice, and gain insights into the challenges, opportunities, novel strategies, and analytic tools and techniques for dealing with big data in healthcare. The BDAH 2014 Program Committee invites submissions of completed papers, poster papers, abstract presentations, and pre-conference workshop proposals that advance knowledge of healthcare data analytics. NI2014 – 12th International Congress on Nursing Informatics – Submissions Close 30 September
Submissions are open for the Twelfth International Congress on Nursing Informatics (NI2014) will be held in Taipei in 2014. Dates 21-25 June; venue Taipei International Convention Center. Information is available via the website at http://www.ni2014.org

All abstracts must be submitted and be received on or before September 15, 2013 through the on-line Abstract Submission System. For authors who need language support, submit by the pre-submission deadline, August 31, 2013. (this does NOT guarantee acceptance; it is a mechanism to provide support and feedback) All abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee of the NI2014, and reviewing results will be notified by emailing the decision of acceptance/ rejection to the presenting authors only by December 15, 2013.
The theme of the conference is “eSmart + ” where “e” stands for eHealth, “S” implies simplicity, “m” represents mobility and meaningful use, “a” denotes advanced leadership, “r” indicates revolution, “t” means translational technologies, and “+” symbolizes People Leading uCare Safely. The acronym is also used to convey the idea of adopting smart technology to help health providers deliver higher quality care.

Major Events for 2014: NI2014 and MIE2014
Initial announcements have been made about two important events on the global health, nursing and biomedical informatics calendar for 2014. Further information will be given soon on important timelines, so please keep an eye on the relevant websites; IMIA will also be helping to promote both events.
NI2014 – the 12th International Congress of Nursing Informatics will take place in Taipei (at the Taipei International Convention Center, near to the famous Taipei 101) on 21-25 June, 2014. Initial information is available on the conference website – see http://www.ni2014.org We encourage all nursing and nursing informatics colleagues (and others) to participate.
MIE2014 – the 25th European Medical Informatics Conference – will be held in Istanbul on 31 August – 03 September, 2014. Information will be available on the conference website at http://www.mie2014.org and on the EFMI web portal at http://www.efmi.org We look forward to seeing many colleagues from Europe and further afield at this event.

Big Data in Health and Biomedicine Conference: Melbourne, Australia – 18-19 April
Big Data 2013 is following on from the success of HISA’s Data Governance conferences of 2011 and 2012. Big Data 2013 is Australia’s first Big Data in biomedicine and healthcare conference. The event will be held at Rydges, Melbourne on 18-19 April. For details, see http://www.hisa.org.au/page/bigdata2013 Registration is open and the early bird rate closes on 12 March.
The conference will focus on issues around biomedical informatics, personalised medicine, health 2.0/participatory health, data governance, data analytics and healthier outcomes. The main themes of the conference are:
