HELINA2013 Conference: 07-08 October 2013 in Eldoret, Kenya

helinaThe HELINA 2013 Conference – the 8th Health Informatics in Africa Conference – will be held on 7-8 October 2013 at the Noble Conference Centre, Eldoret, Kenya. The conference theme will be “Evidence based Informatics for eHealth in Africa”.

HELINA2013 will be hosted by the Kenyan Health Informatics Association (KeHIA –, one of IMIA’s newest Member Societies. KeHIA is the national platform for health informatics activities in Kenya with membership drawn from corporate bodies, professionals and researchers involved in Health, Medical Informatics and Computer Science in Kenya from within and outside the country.

  The Africa Build consortium is organizing a Symposium on capacity building on the second day of the conference (8 October, 2013) Registration for this symposium can be made at 
  A pre-conference workshop focused on standardization and Open Source systems interoperability and health indicator extraction of information systems used in Africa is planned on Saturday 5 October, 2013 from 09:00 to 14:00 H. Semantic and technical interoperability will be discussed with regard to systems used in Africa: DHIS, GNU Health, MEDIBOARD, Openclinic, and OpenMRS.
