WCIT 2012: ONE Vision for a Global Digital Society
WCIT2012, the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2012 – www.wcit2012.org) will be held at the Palais des congrès (Convention Centre) in Montreal, Canada on 22-24 October, 2012. WCIT 2012 is a 3-day conference that will focus on the theme of “ONE Vision for a Global Digital Society”. It will feature high-profile speakers and attract up to 3,000 delegates from more than 80 countries, including representatives from industry, governments, academia, and civil society. A major objective of WCIT 2012 is to create a Global Digital Society Action Plan that will maximize the potential of digital technologies and ensure that citizens from around the world benefit from the promise of the digital age.
Improving Healthcare in a Digital Society
During the panel Collaborative Healthcare: From Personalized Medicine to the Frontiers of Medical Research, Ms. Dina Deliwe Pule – Minister of Communications (South Africa), Ken Buetow – Director, Complex Adaptive Systems Initiative, Dr. Mark Blatt – Worldwide Medical Director, Intel and Richard Alvarez – CEO, Canada Health Infoway will reflect on how extensive digital collaboration can lead to healthcare systems that are cheaper, safer, and better!
ITAC (the Information Technology Association of Canada) is hosting WCIT2012, in particular through collaboration with ITAC Health (http://itac.ca/health), IMIA is pleased to support WCIT 2012. IMIA members will be able to access special ticket rates for the event.
