Nursing Informatics: April Events, and SINI Deadline Extended to 26 March
The deadline for submission of abstracts for the 22nd Annual Summer Institute in Nursing Informatics (SINI), organised by the University of Maryland School of Nursing, has been extended to 26 March, 2012. Information is on the SINI website at http://nursing.umaryland.edu/sini/
This 22nd SINI will be held on July 18-20, 2012 (see http://nursing.umaryland.edu/sini/). The theme of the 2012 SINI will be “National and Global Priorities in Informatics and Health Care”. For 2012, the schedule will change a little from previous years, and SINI will be three full days (Wednesday to Friday), with pre-conference tutorials on 16 and 17 July. As in recent years, SINI will be held at the University of Maryland School of Nursing buildings, 655 W. Lombard Street, Baltimore, MD.
Two nursing informatics events will be held in the USA in April 2012:
– the ANIA-CARING 2012 Conference will be in Orlando, Florida on 12-14 April. The theme will be “Nursing informatics: making a big splash” and information is on the ANIA-CARING website at http://www.ania-caring.org/mc/page.do?sitePageId=128112
Three Keynote Speakers are confirmed for the event: Robin Raiford, RN-BC, CPHIMS, FHIMSS, Executive Director, Federal Affairs Allscripts; Dr. Jim Cato, Ed.D, MHS, MSN, RN, CRNA, Chief Nursing Officer at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania; and Cheryl D. Parker, PhD, RN, Chief Nursing Informatics Officer, Rubbermaid Medical Solutions. The conference tracks address Education & Career Development; Adoption and Optimization Strategies; Measuring and Monitoring for Outcome Attainment; Innovative Achievements; and Leadership Development in Nursing Informatics.
– the 30th Annual International Interprofessional Technology Conference organised by Rutgers College of Nursing will be held on 14-18 April at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Information is at http://nursing.rutgers.edu/conferences/30th-annual-international-interprofessional-technology-conference The theme will be “Using technology to improve healthcare globally”, and speakers will include Gil Kuperman, Marion Ball, Casimir Kulikowski, Polun Chang and Diane Skiba.
