WCIT 2012 – Montreal, Canada, 22-24 October

The World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT 2012 – www.wcit2012.org) will be held at the Palais des congrès (Convention Centre) in Montreal, Canada on 22-24 October, 2012. WCIT 2012 is a 3-day conference that will focus on the theme of “ONE Vision for a Global Digital Society”. It will feature high-profile speakers and attract up to 3,000 delegates from more than 80 countries, including representatives from industry, governments, academia, and civil society. A major objective of WCIT 2012 is to create a Global Digital Society Action Plan that will maximize the potential of digital technologies and ensure that citizens from around the world benefit from the promise of the digital age.

ITAC (the Information Technology Association of Canada) won the bid to hold WCIT 2012 in Canada. In particular through collaboration with ITAC Health (http://itac.ca/health), IMIA is pleased to support WCIT 2012, and will be working to support the development of a robust health stream for the conference.

IMIA members will be able to access special ticket rates for the event; we will provide more information on this.

IMIA members will also note that the dates, unfortunately, clash with the IMIA Board and General Assembly meetings, so many will be unable to attend both events. If you are not able to attend the IMIA GA or associated APAMI conference, you may wish to consider attending WCIT 2012.

WCIT2012 will have various communication mechanisms – you can subscribe to their newsletter (click on logo to the left) or follow on Twitter and LinkedIn.
