2011 Canadian Health Informatics Awards

The 2011 Canadian Health Informatics Award Gala was held at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, Canada on 09 November 2011. The award winners, from a cross-section of Canadian healthcare, were honoured for their leadership, innovation and excellence in using technology for the betterment of patient care and education and the health system.

Among the awards and scholarships presented at the gala, co-hosted by COACH: Canada’s Health Informatics Association and ITAC Health, were:

Community-Based Physician Leader/Innovator,Presented by the Canadian Medical Association: Dr. Mike Wadden, Doctors Nova Scotia

Clinician Leadership: Dr. Michael Harlos, Canadian Virtual Hospice, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, University of Manitoba

Emerging Leader in Health Informatics:  Alison MacDonald, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences

Leadership in the Field of Health Informatics: Dominic Covvey, University of Waterloo, National Institutes of Health Informatics, Author

Project Team – Implementation and Patient Care Innovation awards: Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences & Healthtech Consultants – Project EASIER

Steven Huesing Graduate Scholarship: Justin St. Maurice, University of Victoria

Steven Huesing Undergraduate Scholarship: Thivaher Paromsothy, University of Waterloo
