Turning Scientific Knowledge into Effective Action for Health – PAHO/WHO Webinar, Nov. 3

The latest in the series of PAHO/WHO monthly live webinars on Equity and Health – Access to Information, titled “Turning Scientific Knowledge into Effective Action for Health”, will be offered on Thursday, 3rd November 2011, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM WDC time (check the local time in your own town at http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html)

With a hands-on approach, this two-hour online workshop will train participants on how to use the online tools available through the Virtual Health Library (VHL), as well as from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) Online Databases, effectively. Furthermore, this online workshop will highlight other Web resources tailored to the public health workforce.

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify resources to support public health programs and activities
  • Retrieve information in support of evidence-based public health
  • Obtain data sets and statistics relevant to public health on state, local, national, regional and world levels
  • Identify resources available to stay informed of developments related to public health and environmental health

PAHO/WHO Webinars are free and open to interested people. You may attend virtually from your personal or work computer anywhere in the world. In addition to  watching live presentations, you will have the option to ask questions and  provide comments. You just need a computer, internet connection, speakers and  a mic/headphone. You will also be able to write comments and continue the discussion after the webinar.
