The Journal provides a national and international medium for the dissemination of original results and interpretative reviews concerning the field of healthcare informatics. The scope of the journal covers: Information systems, including hospital information systems, clinical information systems, electronic medical record systems, telemedicine systems, etc; Computer-aided decision support systems using heuristic, algorithmic and/or statistical methods as exemplified in data mining, decision theory, artificial intelligence, etc.; Health information infrastructure, including standardization, terminology, security, etc.; Medical engineering, including biomedical imaging, medical signal processing, etc.; Bioinformatics research such as genomics, phamacoinformatics, etc.; Organizational, managerial, social, and ethical aspects of IT applications in health care; Evaluations of educational computer based programs pertaining to healthcare informatics or healthcare in general.
