HIMSS12 Annual Conference and Exhibition – Las Vegas

The HIMSS12 Annual Conference and Exhibition ( will take place on February 20-24, 2012 at the Venetian-Palazzo-Sands Expo Center, Las Vegas NV, USA. The theme is ‘Linking People, Potential and Progress’.

For 2012, there is a change of Conference Schedule/Days from previous years – the Preconference Programs will be on Monday, February 20; Conference Days: Tuesday, February 21 – Friday, February 24; Exhibits Open: Tuesday, February 21 – Thursday, February 23.

HIMSS is an Institutional Member of IMIA. IMIA is pleased to continue as a Collaborating Partner to the event and we will provide further information as it becomes available.

AMIA 2011 Annual Symposium – Latest Updates

The AMIA 2011 Annual Symposium will take place in Washington DC, USA on October 22 – 26, 2011 – see for full information. The event will take place entirely at the Washington Hilton Hotel, 1919 Connecticut Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20009.

“The AMIA Annual Symposium is the primary forum for the presentation of research and development related to the structure and management of data, and the design, implementation and evaluation of information systems in the field of biomedical and health informatics”, according to AMIA 2011 Scientific Program Committee Chair R. Scott Evans, MS, PhD, FACMI.

Registration is open via the symposium website, as are links to hotel booking and other information, including the advance programme. The advance registration rates end on October 6.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Francis S. Collins, Director, National Institutes of Health and Farzad Mostashari, MD, ScM, National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Department of Health and Human Services.

MIE2011 is over – on to Italy for MIE2012

The successful MIE2011 conference, held in Oslo, Norway on 28-31 August 2011 has now finished – Some reports from the event, including video clips and links to photos (by Jacob Hofdijk and Karl Oyri), are available on the MIE2011 blog site at

The next MIE (Medical Informatics Europe) conference will be MIE2012, to be held in Pisa, Italy on 26-29 August, 2012. Initial information is on the MIE2012 website at

The conference theme will be “Quality of life through quality of information” and the Call for Papers is expected to open in October 2011.
