IMIA Board and General Assembly Meetings, 2011

The IMIA General Assembly (GA) meeting will be held on Sunday, 28 August, 2011 in Oslo, Norway in conjunction with the MIE2011 conference (

Attendance at the GA is by invitation only, but open to all official representatives of IMIA Member Societies and of Academic and Corporate Institutional Members, to WG/SIGs chairs, Honorary Fellows, and Corresponding Members. See

For catering and other logistical purposes, we need an accurate estimate of the number of people who will be attending. If you have not already done so, please inform the IMIA Secretary (email: with copy to the IMIA CEO (email: whether you or a proxy will be attending.

If the representative of your organisation has changed, please let us know as soon as possible.

The IMIA Board (invitation only) will meet on 27 August.

MIE2011 – we hope that as many IMIA GA members, and others, as possible will attend MIE2011, the XXIII International Conference of the European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI – takes place in Oslo, Norway on 28-31 August, 2011. Full information is at

HELINA 2011 Conference: Second Call for Submissions

HELINA 2011, the seventh HELINA conference, will be held at the Hotel Aurelia Palace, Yaoundé, Cameroon on 28-30 November.

It will be hosted by the Cameroonian Health Informatics Society (CAHIS). CAHIS is the national platform for health informatics activities in Cameroon, with membership drawn from corporate bodies, professionals and researchers involved in health and medical informatics in Cameroon, from within and outside the country. The organization is a member of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) and the Pan African Health Informatics in Africa Association (HELINA).

HELINA and CAHIS aim with this year’s conference at:

  • Promoting the development of an eHealth strategy for Africa and eHealth policies in African countries.
  • Fostering the creation of networks between African countries as well as eHealth initiatives in Africa
  • Establishing best practices guidelines for the implementation of Health Informatics applications in Africa
  • Fostering the development of Health Informatics research and education in Africa.

The conference theme is “Health Information Systems: Scaling up solutions to transform healthcare delivery in Africa.”

Tracks will include:

  • Track A: Health Informatics and the Private Sector (collaborations, economics perspectives, case studies, etc.)
  • Track B: Health Informatics Research and Implementation
  • Track C: Health Informatics design and education
  • Track D: Health Informatics in the Public Sector – Policy, universal health coverage, finance, and insurance


The event will comprise keynote presentations, paper and poster presentations, and panels with international participation; tutorials; ‘meet the experts’ sessions; workshops
