Journal of Biomedical Informatics (JBI) and Other Journals

At intervals, we provide information that might be of interest to IMIA members and readers on journals and other publications produced by IMIA Member Societies, Regions, and commercial publishers (some of the latter being official IMIA journals).

The Journal of Biomedical Informatics (JBI) is published by Elsevier. The Editor-in-Chief is Dr. Edward H. Shortliffe, President and CEO, AMIA and Professor, School of Biomedical Informatics, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Ted writes that he has “been editor of the Journal of Biomedical Informatics for the last decade.  The journal has flourished during this time and has intentionally focused on informatics methodology, largely to avoid direct competition with the other excellent journals in our field.  JBI does not publish applications papers, evaluations, surveys, etc., but rather requires that a paper introduce and assess an innovative methodology that may generalize broadly for application in the field.  No other journal has focused solely in this area.” AMIA has endorsed JBI and the AMIA logo appears on the cover of JBI .

Full information about JBI is available on the website. JBI’s latest Table of Contents is also accessed on ScienceDirect: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/journal/15320464 and for those interested in submitting papers, the EES Authors’ and Editors’ Site is: http://ees.elsevier.com/jbi/
