HIMSS Europe Leadership Award to Dr. Jean Roberts

Our congratulations go to Dr. Jean Roberts, who was yesterday given the HIMSS Europe annual Leadership award at the World of Health IT event ( in Budapest, Hungary. The award to Jean recognises “her many years of service to eHealth in Europe and her extensive, multi-faceted experience in academic research and her ability to design and implement strategic health initiatives and manage complex programmes and projects in informatics and e-health business areas”. Dr. Petra Wilson, HIMSS Europe Government Council Member, acknowledged Jean’s work, in particular in “driving professionalization in health informatics” and “helping to grow the next generation of eHealth professionals”.

Many colleagues will recall that Jean has been involved in health informatics internationally for more than 45 years, served as UK representative to IMIA, has been an IMIA Vice President, and has chaired the IMIA Health Informatics for Development Working Group. Jean currently works as an Independent Health Informatics Consultant in Phoenix Associates, Staffordshire, and is a member of the British Computer Society’s Professional Development Board; she previously worked at the University of Central Lancashire.
