From the International Medical Informatics Association

Roy Alger, SAHIA

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of another of our health informatics colleagues. Roy Alger, past President of SAHIA, the South African Health Informatics Association, passed away on 09 January, 2011 after a short illness.

Many colleagues who attended the recent Medinfo2010 event in cape Town, South Africa, will have met Roy. He was one of the driving forces behind South Africa’s successful bid the host the event, and worked tirelessly up to and during the event to ensure its success. He will be missed by all his colleagues and friends in the health informatics community in Africa and globally.

Anyone who is on Facebook can leave a message on the page of Roy’s partner, Val Lewis, at http://www.facebook.com/val.lewis
