University of Aveiro (Portugal) seeks ICT in health sciences professor

The University of Aveiro (Portugal) is inviting applications for the post of Professor in Information and Communications Technologies applied to Health Sciences. The candidate filling the position would provide leadership in this interdisciplinary area and should have research interests in a broad range of areas related to ICT and Health Sciences.

The University of Aveiro has a sustained tradition on R&D in leading healthcare technologies and is starting an innovative educational program in Medicine. To consolidate its multidisciplinary strategy and pursuing its quest for quality, University of Aveiro is opening a position for a leading researcher in the emerging fields of ICT in health, to provide leadership of a multidisciplinary research group. The University of Aveiro will initially offer a contract of up to five years , with an annual salary of 98 000 € before taxes, the integration in a research unit with four grants and strong relationships with clinical and industrial partners.

The candidate should have expertise in areas such as:

  • Translational research, including integrating biological and clinical knowledge, facilitating multidisciplinary science;
  • Cutting-edge approaches to acquire, represent, process, and manage knowledge and data related to health, health care, and the biomedical sciences;
  • Emerging electronic health records;
  • Knowledge management for clinical decision support systems;
  • Health interfaces, information visualization and feedback;
  • Inclusive systems for people with special needs;
  • Improvement of the public health and promotion of the health of communities;
  • Biomedical research.

  • A letter of intention stating his/her motivation and research vision for a five years position;
  • A detailed CV providing clear evidence of research leadership, scientific outcomes, international networks involvement and industrial partnership.
