Revised IMIA Education Recommendations Published

The first revision since their original publication in 1999 of the Recommendations of the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) on Education in Biomedical and Health Informatics have been published today. The revised IMIA Recommendations have been developed by a taskforce lead by Prof. John Mantas; other significant contributors to the document were Elske Ammenwerth, George Demiris, Arie Hasman, Reinhold Haux, William Hersh, Evelyn Hovenga, K. C. Lun, Heimar Marin, Fernando Martin-Sanchez and Graham Wright (IMIA Recommendations on Education Task Force). Other members of the IMIA Education Working Group and IMIA’s Academic Institutional members have contributed to the development of the document.

The copyright for the revised recommendations document is with IMIA. Translations are encouraged. For translations, as well as for all other reprints,written permission by IMIA is needed. In all reprints this original publication of the revised IMIA recommendations on education has to be quoted as the original reference.

IMIA would also like to hear of examples of the use of the document in the development of curricula, courses and programmes in health and biomedical informatics.
