ACI Journal Editorial – Haux & Ball
An editorial in ACI Journal, titled From Theory into Practice: Bridging The Clinical Informatics Divide!, and authored by Reinhold Haux, IMIA President, and Marion Ball, a past president of IMIA, is available from the ACI website as a free pdf download (>>>).
The editorial charts the growth of IMIA, and outlines its long-standing role as a “bridging organization” for health and biomedical informatics, building bridges and stimulating collaboration between researchers, educators and practitioners. The importance of high quality scientific publications is noted, and the role that IMIA has played in endorsing ‘official journals, as well as the publication of its own IMIA Yearbook, which is 2010 will be in its 19th year of continuous publication.
The editorial goes on to outline the rationale for the development of ACI Journal, noting that it will will “collaborate and not compete with the two already existing official journals of IMIA” and its aim to “build bridges from theory of Informatics to the actual practice of Informatics”, applying research at the bedside, or in whatever setting healthcare and clinical informatics are practised.
A video presentation made by Chris Lehmann, Editor in Chief, to the IMIA General Assembly, is also available on the journal’s website at >>>
