Medicine 2.0’09 – starts in five weeks
The second Medicine 2.0 conference – Medicine 2.0’09 (www.medicine20congress.com) – starts in Toronto, Canada in five weeks time. It will be held at the MaRS Centre, Toronto on 17-18 September. IMIA is one of the co-sponsors of the event, and this year sees the first IMIA Medicine 2.0 Award, which will be presented to the best paper in the research track.
Medicine 2.0 is the annual open, international conference on Web 2.0 applications in health and medicine, also known as the World Congress on Social Networking and Web 2.0 Applications in Medicine, Health, Health Care, and Biomedical Research. The first event, held in September 2008, was very well-received by everyone who participated. Several members of the IMIA Web 2.0 Taskforce are involved in the event, and will be attending and presenting, as they did last year.
The event is also facilitating a range of interactions, including a social networking site for participants and those interested but who cannot attend in person – http://medicine20.crowdvine.com/ A new innovation this year will be several ‘unconference’ sessions. It is still possible to register to attend the event.
