The Standards Standard (AMIA): Winter 2011-12 Issue Available

The latest issue of AMIA’s The Standards Standard newsletter (Winter 2011-12, Vol. 2, No. 2) is now available – at http://www.amia.org/news-publications/standards-standard and previous issues are also available. It is published by AMIA twice a year, in May and December.  The Standard’s mission is to enable the widely dispersed and diverse members of the global health informatics community to understand the importance of health information interoperability, the contribution of health informatics standards, the identities of the key standards development organizations and their contributions, and the challenges of developing good standards that work well together.

The current issue (Winter 2011-12, Vol. 2, No. 2) has:

• Letters from the Editor in Chief, Dipak Kalra;
• Interoperability review: Don E. Detmer and Yu-Chuan (Jack) Li, and R.D Kush;
• Community updates on a range of standards developments involving CEN TC251, DICOM, ISO TC/215, and others.

Submission Deadline Extended for Biosignal 2012 – Brno, Czech Republic; June, 2012

The deadline for submissions to the 21st Biennial International Conference Biosignal 2012 has been extended to 26 February. The event will be held in Brno, Czech Republic on June 28 – 30, 2012. The conference website is at www.biosignal.cz for full information. The conference aims to “together an international multidisciplinary group of researchers, engineers and medical doctors engaged in different aspects of fundamental and applied research of biological signal processing, medical imaging and bioinformatics fields.”

NI2012 Bursary Fund; Registration Open

The organizers of NI2012 are pleased to announce that limited bursary reimbursement funds are available, to assist individuals with travel to the NI2012 Congress in Montreal, Canada. The bursary fund has been established to provide partial travel support for authors and students who can demonstrate a financial need to attend NI2012. The deadline for applications is April 2, 2012. Successful candidates will be notified by April 16, 2012. To apply, submit an application letter to Jeff Williamson, AMIA’s Vice President of Education and Academic Affairs, by email to jeff[at]amia.org Include a statement of need along with estimates of costs in United States Dollars; in addition, you will need to follow the other instructions and eligibility criteria.

The Congress Preview document is now available for NI2012, the 11th International Congress on Nursing Informatics, to be held in Montreal, Canada on June 23-27.

Registration and hotel booking are both open via the NI2012 website – www.ni2012.org -  and Advance Congress Registration rates are available up to May 17 (but we advise early booking).
